PT Asahimas Flat Glass Tbk. (AMFG) will soon be closing a sheet glass production factory located in Ancol, North Jakarta, with a capacity of 120,000 tons / year and replace it with a new factory with a capacity of 210,000 tons / year in Cikampek-Purwasari, West Java worth Rp.796.8 billion.

The company's management said the company plans to complete the new furnace with machines that can produce environmentally friendly glass sheets. The Company uses new technology from Asahi Glass Co. Ltd. (AGC), which is the main shareholder of the company with 43.86% ownership.

Safety Sheet Glass Association and Indonesia declared after passing through the first semester / 2015, the sector is likely only to grow a maximum of 5% compared with last year's performance.

The Third Chairman and Safety Sheet Glass Association of Indonesia (AKLPI) Justin Gunawan said the expectation of growth is based on export performance, along with the slow pace of domestic demand.

According to him, the weak performance of manufacturing, automatic sheet glass producer China discard its products at low prices, thereby closing the market competitors. Currently, the national production capacity of 1.5 million tons, while production this year is estimated to reach 1.37 million tons.
