Wings Expands its Business in 93 Countries

Wings started as a family company. Since it was established in 1948 in Surabaya, it has been professionally run. Its has a couple hundred of various products, ranging from personal care products, home maintenance products and also food products. Since 1980, Wings has been exporting its goods to a number of countries. Currently, the company exports to 93 countries, which includes countries in the Asia, Europe, Africa and Middle East regions. Export contibutes approximately 30 percent of the company’s total income. Wings success is due to factors such as its 65 percent local content, innovative products, harmonic co-operation of a number of parties and also because Wings’ commitment to stay as a consumer-oriented company. As mentioned previously, one of the company’s core business is the detergent sector. Wings Group entrusts this sector to PT Sayap Mas Utama, one of its subsidiaries. Wings believe that there is still much to develop in the sector as the detergent consumption level in Indonesia is still 5 kilograms per year per person, which considerably low since the consumption level of other Asian countries reach 30 kilograms per year per person.

Last September 2005, the Supreme Court granted the motion proposed by PT Sayap Mas Utama, the manufacturer of Enerjos. As the company’s motion was granted, it regained its right to use the brand name Enerjos.
