Director of Basic Chemical Industry Ministry of Industry Tony Tanduk states Indonesian plastics industry growth has not been able to balance the development needs.

Tony explained that this year the total demand of 3.8 million tons of plastic Indonesia. In average, the population of Indonesia plastic consumption 10 kilograms per capita per year. "We can not fulfill our own," he said during a talk at the Four Season Hotel, Jakarta, Thursday, November 28, 2013.

Last year, Indonesia imported plastic products reached $ 8.5 billion. Four countries most plastic supply to Indonesia are China, South Korea, Thailand, and Japan.

Tony adds, national plastics industry has actually been growing at about 6.8 percent per year. However, this growth can not pursue the growth of consumption, which reached 10 percent per year. "The need plastic is strongly influenced by the growth of food and beverage industry as well as automotive," he said.

The government in fact has encouraged the development of the plastics industry, especially in the lower reaches. Structure refinery and naphtha cracker strengthened. Currently there are five clusters development of the petrochemical industry as a raw material of plastic. Each cluster is located in Cilegon, Bintan Island, Tuban, Muara Enim, and Bintuni.

Manufacturers of plastic film PT Trias Sentosa Tbk. (TRST) this year wants to increase exports to 45% -46% in line with the addition of two metalizing machines in the factory Krian Sidoarjo.

President Trias Sentosa Sugeng Kurniawan said converting the two production machines each with a capacity of 1,200 tons / year and the plan of the machine will begin operations in August 2016, and the engine start operation in 2017.

Trias export market has been quite extensive as in ASEAN countries reached 50%, followed by China 20%, and America, Japan, Australia and New Zealand.
