Industrial Lubricants RI yet from Upstream to Downstream Integrated : http://bisnis.liputan6.com/read/670036/industri-pelumas-ri-belum-terintegrasi-dari-hulu-ke-hilir, 20 August 2013 Industrial lubricants become one of the strategic industries that experienced fairly rapid growth, where the demand for lubricant products is increasing every year.
This condition assessed driven by the increasing number of vehicles which require a lot of this product as well as the development of the industrial sector, which includes manufacturing and construction.
However, in line with it, the lubricant industry in Indonesia still faces challenges related to raw materials and the most addictive substances that are imported.
"It makes industrial lubricants in Indonesia is only a blending or compounding formulations and thus not integrated between the upstream (upstream) to downstream (downstream)," Industry Minister MS Hidayat said in Jakarta, Tuesday (20/08/2013).
Therefore, according to Hidayat, very necessary to keep the fuel supply chain to produce an integrated lubrication with oil and lubricant base oils (lube base oil).
"These challenges need to be addressed investors to invest by opening or expanding plants in order to meet domestic demand and exports," he explained.
In addition, Hidayat, lubricants industry also faces challenges in terms of wastewater treatment because it produces toxic waste and hazardous materials.
"Yet we continue to develop technologies that can decrease energy consumption and can produce innovative products," he said.
Based on data from the Ministry of Industry, today there are over 200 manufacturers of lubricants in Indonesia who are spread in various regions, especially in Java with an installed production capacity reaches 700 thousand kiloliters per year and turnover is estimated to reach more than Rp 7 trillion.
"This potential can drive lubricant exports to ASEAN countries, Japan, China, South Kore, the Middle East, as well as the European Union," he said.
