National livestock in the coming year still faces severe challenges, so there needs to be serious efforts from the government by involving domestic business actors. This was conveyed by the Chairperson of the Indonesian Animal Medicine Association, Irawati Fari.

Irawati Fari said that in 2017 there were many regulations that confused business people, in addition to inappropriate policies. Among the challenges of the poultry industry such as the issuance of the Minister of Agriculture Regulation No. 14/2017 concerning Animal Drug Classification which prohibits the use of antibiotics as growth boosters effective January 1, 2018. In addition, the Ministry of Agriculture's policy to stop the import of corn as feed raw material. Currently also discussing the draft ministerial regulation on agriculture related to the supply and circulation of veterinary medicines. Through the Minister of Trade Regulation No. 27/2017, the government regulates the reference price of poultry. The beef cattle industry is also still facing the policy challenge of the ratio of feeder and broodstock imports. As well, the policy of importing frozen buffalo meat from India. The task of industry players are to comply with a number of regulations issued, but the regulation should not disrupt the industry.
