Legal Issues in Indonesia and Loss of Nation Character: http://www.ui.ac.id/berita/permasalahan-hukum-di-indonesia-dan-hilangnya-karakter-bangsa.html/20 July 2016

The arrest of a number of judges of the Corruption Court (Tipikor) due to alleged bribery some time ago is bad news for law enforcement in Indonesia because corruption judges are the mainstay of law enforcement for corruptors in Indonesia. Though the judges Tipikor selected through a fairly tight process. It involves an internal selection committee composed of supreme judges, community leaders, and academics whose capacity and integrity have been tested.

Perhaps the problem lies not only in the selection process, but more so in the disappearance of the character of the nation as the religious being who has the ultimate reference in his daily life. The selection and enforcement process is getting tighter and more sophisticated from day to day, but it does not eliminate graft, bribery and corruption cases committed by various layers, either individuals or public figures. The loss of the nation's character as a religious person can not be overcome immediately. There are big questions and challenges that we must answer : "Is our education system from elementary to university, as well as the coaching of our families, our religious development as a nation has led to the formation of character?"
