Strengthened Cluster of IKM Fashion: March 2012

In order to develop industrial clusters of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) of fashion in the West Sumatra, Bukittinggi City Diskoperindag collaboration with the Ministry of Industry held a discussion. There met the relevant stakeholders in the development of SMEs Fashion in West Sumatra. Participants included government officials, industry suppliers, designers, practitioners, banks, academics and craftsmen in the province of West Sumatra. According to regulation of RI 28/2008 on national industrial policy, development of national industries one of them is done through the cluster approach.

Kemenperin party is also targeting the year 2012/2013 Indonesia is expected to become an international state of creative economy. One of the creative industries sector which is rapidly growing is the fashion industry. He said the fashion industry's contribution to the creative economy reach the amount of 61.13 percent of the total Rp.53.94 trillion.

Bukittinggi has 44 small and medium industrial commodities, six of which are the products of the regions. Bukittinggi local government committed to develop and promote embroidery and embroidery industry, especially Kerancang embroidery.
