Beer Industry Requesting Additional of Production Quota: July 2011

Malt Beverage Industry Association of Indonesia (GIMMI) urged the government (Investment Coordinating Board) in order to increase the production quota of beer. So far, demand for beer continues to grow while domestic beer production remained limited. The impact of the emergence of conditions that affect the production of mixed liquor including an increasing number of illegal imports.

The impact of beer production quota restrictions can be seen from the types of alcoholic beverages is limited to 24 500 liters. However, based on market survey numbers for the type of beverage that is absorbed reaches 476 000 liters. Beer industry in Indonesia is made up some beer manufacturer that is Angker, Stars, Balihai. Manufacturer's total production quota of beer that reaches 2 million hecto liters per year.
Customs Up 200%, Beer Prices Will Rise Up to 40% :, 23 March 2010

Malt Beverage Industry Indonesia Affiliation (GIMMI) estimates the price of alcoholic beverages (minol) will raise 20-40% following the increase in customs tariff up to 200% or 3 times, especially for beer. This increasing is based on Finance Minister Rule (Permenkeu) No. 62/PMK.011/2010 on ethyl alcohol customs tariff, drinks containing alcohol and concentrate atil containing ethyl alcohol as per March 17, 2010

During this time the product categories of alcoholic beverages in Indonesia consists of 3 groups, namely Group A with maximum 5% alcohol content or alcoholic beer, while group B content of alcohol 5-20%, and group C content of alcohol 20% and above. Class B and C are liquor category.
