The domestic wheat flour producers maintain price stability along with the increase in flour consumption by the end of 2016. The Chairman of the Indonesian Flour Producers Association (Aptindo) Franciscus Welirang discloses the key to wheat flour price stability by maintaining inventory and demand levels.
The domestic consumption trend of flour continues to increase. In 2016, the consumption of wheat flour in Indonesia increased by 7% yoy. Recorded growth trends begin since 2013 and only decrease 1% in 2014 to 2015. Domestic manufacturers should be able to compete with imported flour products in terms of quality. So that business actors can maintain the selling power of their products in the market.
Currently 25% of imported wheat is imported compared to domestic production. According to him, the entry of imported products can not be avoided so that producers are required to compete in a healthy manner. In the span of five years, the market price of wheat has always been under rice. Based on BPS data during 2008 - 2013, fluctuating wheat price index is 20% lower than rice price volatility.

Chairman of the Indonesian Wheat Flour Producers Association Franciscus Welirang said, demand for wheat flour industry in the next year is expected to grow 5% -6% of demand this year. Growth in demand is expected in line with the national macro economic growth next year.
"Growth in demand for wheat flour next year faster than the growth of demand for wheat flour this year," said the man nicknamed Franky on Wednesday (10/12).
At this year's demand for wheat flour only 2% of demand in 2013 to 2013, the national wheat flour demand of 5.3 million tons. So at this year's national wheat flour demand of 5.4 million tons
