Barata On Track With Big UK Order

PT Barata Indonesia will export 275 bogies worth up to Rp.4.5 billion (US$ 482.32) to Britain this year. The company would deliver 14 bogies weekly with the first batch being shipped on May 31st. In 2002, the company exported 110 bogies valued at US$ 250,000 to Malaysia. Besides exporting bogies, Barata will also export watergates worth US$ 500,ooo to Kenya. By doing this, the company expects to increase its annual revenue to an average of Rp.200 billion. In the domestic market, Barata earned between Rp.10 billion and Rp.15 billion a year from the repair of bogies belonging to state railway operator PT Kereta Api Indonesia.

Barata Predicted to Acquire Rp.176 Billion in Turnover

PT Barata Indonesia is predicted to acquire a turnover of Rp.176 billion and profit of Rp.40 billion by fulfilling orders of high tech products, such as heavy machineries, sugar factory components and road roller machines, by the end of 2005. If the target is reached, the Gresik-based state-owned corporation’s turnover and profit would be lower than last year’s Rp.200 billion turnover and Rp.46 billion profit. According to the company’s management, the decrease was influenced by the election process of governors that was held during the year.
