Researcher Hastangka from the Education Research Center of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), delivered a presentation on the dynamics of higher education in Indonesia in 2024 as part of a series of events, including the Year-End Reflection, Research Results Infographic Exhibition, and the Final Monitoring and Evaluation of Social Sciences and Humanities (IPSH). On Thursday (12/12), the event entered its fourth day with a talk show themed "Reflection on Indonesian Education 2024," which addressed various important issues in the Indonesian education system.

In his presentation, Hastangka highlighted emerging issues in the media related to the commercialization of higher education, academic freedom, and academic integrity. He emphasized the importance of reviewing higher education policies, particularly those concerning state universities, which are increasingly focused on commercial orientation. He argued that access to higher education should be based on academic achievement, not solely on financial ability.
