The Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) noted that Indonesia's tea exports to other countries continued to decline. Not because of the low world demand, but the decreased production, due to the limited land of plantation.
As the development of the era with the number of development, making tea production and export realization continues to decline. There are several factors that make the national tea production continue to decline. One of the main ones is the limitation of plantation land.

Tea standardization is important to help improve the quality and competitiveness of tea products, both in the domestic and international markets. The Indonesian government through the National Standardization Agency (BSN) has issued a set of Indonesian National Standards (SNI) for tea products. BSN has set 25 SNI on teas which are the reference for implementing certification of tea products whose main raw material is Camellia sinensis (L.) tea leaves.
Throughout 2024, the Agricultural Instrument Standardization Agency for Industrial Plants and Refreshments (BSIP TRI) has held a number of technical discussions to review the SNI on tea. This is done in the context of preparing the National Standard Formulation Program (PNPS) for black tea and green tea.
