National Commission on Human Rights Appraise PT Kahatex

Four members of the National Commission of Human Rights (Komnas Ham) visited and appraised PT Kahatex’s waste management facilities in Sumedang as response to a complaint made by Enceng Kustari, local inhabitant to the area, concerning flying ash emitted from the company’s boiler machine which caused itches and respiratory infection.

Labourers Protest PT Kahatex’s Management

The labourers of textile company PT Kahatex protested that the company was unfair in handling the dispute that followed last April’s demonstration. The labourers came to report the company to the West Java Regional House of Representatives. To the House, the labourers filed 2 lawsuits, which are to stop examinations to labourers involved in the demonstration and to rehire labourers suspended for their involvement in the demo.
