The Ministry of Marine and Fisheries Aquaculture Development Support Pearl Shells: http://www.medanbisnisdaily.com/news/read/2015/08/15/180829/kkp-dukung-pengembangan-budidaya-kerang-mutiara/#.V3ZE9RK-VvE/15 August 2015
Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Susi Pudjiastuti, saying, pearl farming must be encouraged, so that people are not constantly catching or taking of natural pearl oysters. Pearl farming is also expected to involve the fishing communities and coastal communities in general. In accordance with the directives of the Minister of Marine and Fisheries, the Directorate General of Aquaculture, Slamet Soebjakto, invited the businessmen who are members of Pearl Farming Association of Indonesia, to involve the community in the vicinity of his business, so that the public is increasingly prosperous and cultivation of pearl oysters will continue to run.

The government distributed 15 thousand pearl shell seeds with Pinctada Maxima type. The decline in the number of mother-of-pearls in nature triggered the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (CTF) to take conservation measures.

Director General of Aquaculture KKP Slamet Soebjakto states the stock return of pearl shells in nature is a crucial step. "Exploitative fishing using environmentally destructive materials causes the presence of mother of pearls in nature to be very rare," Slamet said at the CTF office in Jakarta on Wednesday (26/7).
