As an effort to restore the glory of fishery ponds in the northern coastal region, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries appointed Karawang regency as one of the locations for shrimp industrialization program.

Through this program, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries will utilize 82,000 hectares of ponds in 22 districts, with Karawang to be one of the first districts that will perform this year.

In addition, the ministry has also set a target production reached 102 thousand tons, with production value reached Rp.5.89 trillion, and the total value of Rp.3.7 trillion. Through these shrimp industrialization program, the ministry in collaboration with the local government and a number of ministries / agencies will utilize the current farm land should be productive.
