Circulation of Electric Cigarettes Interferes Djarum Production: http://www.liputan6.com/bisnis/read/3206700/peredaran-rokok-elektrik-ganggu-produksi-djarum/27 December 2017


Tobacco company owned by Hartono brothers, PT Djarum estimates a decline in cigarette production this year around 1.2 billion cigarettes or 2 percent of the production last year. One reason is because the circulation of electric cigarettes or vape. This was conveyed by Senior Production Manager Kretek Operations of Djarum, Slamet Rahardjo. However, Slamet has no data on the impact of electric cigarettes or vape to the sale of Djarum.

There are changes in people's lifestyles that switch from clove cigarettes and white cigarettes to electric cigarettes. Slamet supports the government's move to impose excise duty on electric cigarette liquid containing tobacco by 57 percent as of 1 July 2017.

PT. Hanjaya Mandala Sampoerna Tbk (Sampoerna) inaugurated two factories hand-rolled cigarettes (SKT) at once. Two of the new plant was inaugurated in Kraksaan, Probolinggo and turmeric, Lumajang, East Java; the inauguration of two new factories that will strengthen the business SKT Sampoerna. The new plant also gives support to the employment and empowerment of Java. Until now, Sampoerna with subsidiaries and 38 Partners Cigarette Production (MPS) claim to have 95,000 workers.
