Cassava plantations in Indonesia can be said very much and spread in almost every region in Indonesia. In fact, some areas become centers of cassava production. Indonesia is also famous for having very rich natural resources, but ironically it still relies on cassava import from Vietnam.

Based on data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), in the first semester of 2017, the value of cassava import from Vietnam reached US $ 613.2 thousand with volume of 3.2 thousand tons. This figure fell compared to the same period in the previous year which reached 12.5 thousand tons or US $ 2.2 million. In June 2017, cassava imports were quite high, at 2 thousand tons or US $ 389 thousand. This figure when compared to May 2017 increased, where in the fifth month of this year cassava imports only as much as 736 tons or equivalent to US $ 129.5 thousand. However, cassava imports conducted in June 2017 decreased significantly compared to the previous year which reached 5 thousand tons or equivalent to US $ 986.1 thousand.
