BAJ Releases Great Eastern Indonesia Shares

Great Eastern Life Assurance Co. Ltd Singapore has increased its ownership in PT Asuransi Jiwa Asih Great Eastern’s shares to 92 percent, following the sale of PT Asuransi Jiwa Bumi Asih Jaya’s (BAJ) shares in the beginning of this year. In the beginning of 2005, Great Eastern Singapore dominated 88 percent of the Great Eastern Indonesia shares. After the purchase, it owns 92 percent of the total shares worth Rp.32.3 billion. Thus, Great Eastern Singapore’s shares are worth Rp.30.9 billion. In relation to releasing its shares, Great Eastern will alter its name to PT Great Eastern Life Indonesia from PT Asuransi Jiwa Asih Great Eastern. This is hoped to increase premium income by the end of 2006 by twice as much from Rp.30.4 billion (2005) to Rp.60 billion.
