PT Pam Lyonaise Jaya (Palyja) lost 20 percent to 25 percent of its water supply in 2005 due to a large-scale water theft done by the society. To minimize the negative effect of the theft, Palyja has installed leak detectors on the water pipes. In addition, the company will also hold sweepings to eliminate illegal connecting pipes.

PT Pam Lyonnaise Jaya (Palyja) has prepared a Rp 26 billion worth of investment to build and rehabilitate primary pipes and inline boosters in a few regions in Jakarta. The pipe rehabilitation is a realization of Palyja’s target to expand service range and decrease the percentage of water leak. The prepared fund is a proof of Palyja’s commitment to improve its service quality for customers in West Jakarta, Central Jakarta and South Jakarta. Currently, Palyja’s service range has only reached 50 percent of the total necessity, especially in West Jakarta. Palyja can only accommodate the needs of 130,000 connections at the moment. Palyja has finished the construction of Rp 6.2 billion worth of investment pipe (800 mm in diameter, 2.24 km long) to increase service and clean water supply from Angke River to Cengkareng. The pipe installation will increase clean water supplies to Rawa Buaya, Booster Pump Cengkareng, Taman Surya, Tegal Alur, Taman Lestari, East Cengkareng, Pasmpampres, Cengkareng housing and its surrounding areas.
